Dec. 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada

On Dec. 6, 1989, 14 women were killed in a violent act at Montréal's l’École Polytechnique. Writing in the Toronto Star, Eileen Morrow says, "Today is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. Typically on this day each year, there is a lot of remembrance. Action is another matter...." Morrow is coordinator of the Ontario Association of Interval and Transition Houses.
