January 14 – May 31, 2019
Dates have been set! The BPFNA Friendship Tour to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, Texas will take place from February 8-15, 2015. Consider joining us for this very timely Border Awareness Experience, where we will reflect on issues of migration and immigration; social, economic and environmental justice; the so-called drug wars and cartel-related violence; human trafficking; and borderlands militarization, just to name a few, in this - the most populous border region in the world.
We anticipate this project being conducted in partnership with representatives of both the Mexican and U.S. governments including especially the U.S. Border Patrol / Department of Homeland Security; communities of faith; artists, social justice activists, and peacemakers in both Juarez and El Paso; Annunciation House and Casas por Cristo (organizations both based in El Paso); and perhaps others as time and availability permit.
Stories would be heard from these representatives, as well as from migrants, refugees, and residents of Anapra, one of the poorest communities to be found in Juarez and one of the focal points of the ministry of Casas por Cristo. The experience could very well include touring a maquiladora, staying in a migrant shelter, and most certainly will involve breaking bread and worshipping with brothers and sisters in both the United States and Mexico.
Stay tuned for further details on this experience, and contact LeDayne McLeese Polaski at [email protected] to receive further information as it emerges!
