BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz announce that Dr. Jesús Romero will be the Keynote Speaker at this year's Peace Breakfast at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship General Assembly in Dallas, TX. The breakfast will take place from 7-9 a.m. on Thursday, June 18.
Dr. Romero is the director of ISAAC (The Immigration Service and Aid Center) and chair of the department of modern languages/professor of Spanish at Baptist University of the Americas in San Antonio, TX. In his keynote address, Dr. Romero will speak on The Church and Immigration.
Dr. Jesús Romero is a native of Monterrey, Mexico. He has been in higher education since 1993. Dr. Romero has been the recipient of the Who's Who Among America's Teachers award in the years 2005-2006, 2003-2004, 2002, 2000 and 1998. He also received the Excellence in Teaching award from Howard Payne University in 1998 and 2002, and the Fermín Flores Full Time Professor of the Year Award in 2014 from Baptist University of the Américas.
He holds a B.A. degree in Spanish language and literature from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (I.T.E.S.M.), a M.A. degree in Spanish from New Mexico State University, and a Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of Arizona. Dr. Romero is married to Elsa Laura and has been blessed with three children: David, 24; Ana Laura, 23, and Daniel Alejandro, 16.

In addition to Dr. Romero, there will also be a representative from Equal Exchange sharing information about the Baptist Fair Trade Project and how churches can participate (plus free chocolate and coffee samples!), and a testimony from a participant in this year's Justice at the Border Friendship Tour to El Paso and Ciudad Juárez.
A hot breakfast will be served.
