BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz is standing in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement in response to the lack of accountability for state violence against black bodies.

In conjunction with this year’s theme of ‘crossing borders’, BPFNA will be assembling a small, year-long (August 2015-July 2016) working group whose priority will be to work alongside BPFNA staff and board to center the work of valuing black life within BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz and our partner congregations.

The trip is funded in part by a grant from the Shield-Ayres Foundation.

The responsibilities of this working group will include but not be limited to:

  • Resource BPFNA Partner Congregations with tools to stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement
  • Fundraise for the Black Lives Matter movement
  • Work alongside BPFNA staff and board to create and implement strategies for structural and cultural shifts to center black lives.

A small group of 6-8 persons who commit to serve in this working group will be selected to participate in BPFNA’s delegation to Ferguson. This delegation is in response to the national call issued by Ferguson Action for participation in #fightback365, a week of training, education, and direct action during the anniversary of Michael Brown’s murder in August of 2014.

The delegation will take place in St. Louis, MO, August 6-12, 2015. Applications are requested by July 17 but are accepted through July 20. Phone interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis and delegation participants will be notified of their acceptance on or by July 24.

Please contact bpfna@bpfna.org for more information and/or to request an application.

Scholarships are available for participants living in BPFNA member countries – Canada, the US, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
