We are better together

Scattered like salt across Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the United States, we are a movement of individuals and congregations from a wide variety of cultures and Baptist heritages who share a common call to witness to God’s Peace—which is to say peace rooted in justice, this-worldly peace “on earth as it is in heaven.” --From the BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz Theological Statement

Dear Friends,

In July 2017, we’ll gather at Misión Mazahua near Toluca, Mexico for our annual conference -- affectionately known as Peace Camp. This, our 32nd annual gathering, will be the first-ever to be held in Mexico.

For months, we have been deeply excited about this event which promises to be vibrant and life-giving. We’ve imagined people coming together from various countries and cultures to share the challenges and rewards of activism in their own contexts – and then going home with new friendships, new resources, new ideas, and new energy to empower that work.

And now this gathering is fiercely urgent.

The U.S. presidency was just won by a man who promises to build walls both literal and figurative between us. He won by convincing people that our neighbors are our enemies, that we have much to fear and little to learn when we encounter difference.

This conference will be a vital, tangible, transformative counter-example.

We will come together as peacemakers from throughout Latin and North America with a wealth of experience in seeking justice in a vast array of contexts. We will learn from one another, challenge one another, encourage one another. We will share, rather than hide, our vulnerabilities, knowing that such sharing leads to a paradoxical strength. We will explore together how we live faithfully in the midst of empire, knowing that many among us have explicit experience in doing so with creativity and courage. We will find in our differences and in our commonalities a community that inspires and instructs.

We hope that you plan to attend. (Click here for more information.)

We also hope that you’ll give generously to our Colour the Dove campaign so that this vital coming-together will be the best that it can be!  Click here to donate online now, or send your donation to 300 Hawthorne Ln, Suite 205, Charlotte, NC 28204.

We still need to raise $4,000 for this campaign to reach its goal.

We are better together -- please help us make it happen.

Peace and Grace,

LeDayne McLeese Polaski
Executive Director
