In October 2013, a training in Conflict Transformation was held in Guwahati, the capital of the state of Assam, in Northeast India.
The training was sponsored by the Council of Baptist Churches of Northeast India, funded in part by the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America, and led by Conflict Transformation trainer Lee McKenna of Partera International.
The training worked with people from five tribes that have been fighting each other for years.
With the resumption of hostilities between Rengma Naga and Kharbi communities, some of the trainees have taken leading roles in peacemaking, doing training in conflict transformation and organising rehabilitation and development programmes.
Phenpiga H. Rengma, a participant in the training, recently sent this report on the work being done in the region by his group.
