A fourth-generation American Baptist from Puerto Rico, J. Manny Santiago, M.Div., is the pastor of University Baptist Church – Seattle, a partner congregation of the Baptist Peace Fellowship. Santiago received a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez. He graduated from Andover Newton Theological School where he focused on Global Christianity, Cross-Cultural and Interfaith Ministries.
Rev. Santiago has also served congregations in Puerto Rico, Massachusetts and New York. He is the author of “Being Baptists | Para Ser Bautistas”, published by Judson Press, and is currently working on two other books. Santiago is a columnist for The Huffington Post and a collaborator with WorkingPreacher.org and SinApologia.blogspot.com. He has also served as an instructor of religion, ethics, and humanities in the distance-learning program of the Interamerican University in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
His interests range from Baptist history and theology, Latin@ theologies as well as Queer Theology and Spiritualties, and to find ways to bring these fields together.
