Jack McKinney, former co-pastor of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC, recently reflected on a significant moment in his pastorate. He recalls, "When I arrived at Pullen in 2000 some of our members and mission groups were actively involved in the Farm Labor Organizing Committee’s (FLOC) boycott of the Mt. Olive Pickle Company. A decision was made that Pullen would host a town hall meeting on the issue and invite Baldemar Velasquez, the head of FLOC, and Bill Bryan, the President of the Mt. Olive Pickle Company, to present their sides of the issue. State Representative Paul Lubke from Durham agreed to be the moderator for the evening...."

For a six-week period, Shell Ridge Community Church (Walnut Creek, CA) displayed 50 stoles from the Shower of Stoles Project in their gallery space. A project from the Institute for Welcoming Resources, The Shower of Stoles is a collection of over a thousand liturgical stoles representing the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people of faith. Each stole contains the story of a LGBT person who is active in the life and leadership of their faith community, representing religious leaders who have served in thirty-two denominations and faith traditions, in six countries, and on three continents.
