About the Baptist Fair Trade Project
Started in May of 2011, the Baptist Fair Trade Project is a collaboration between Equal Exchange and BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz to involve more Baptists and Baptist Congregations in the Fair Trade movement. As a part of Equal Exchange's Interfaith Program, this particular project gives Baptist customers the ability to purchase fairly traded coffee, chocolate, tea, olive oil and snacks at wholesale prices when they buy in bulk.
Small Farmer Fund
When you buy Equal Exchange products through the Baptist Fair Trade Project, your purchases count twice! That's because for every pound of coffee, tea, chocolate and snacks you purchase, Equal Exchange donates a set amount to BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz, which donates to its development projects around the world.
BPFNA Scholarship Fund
BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz uses its Small Farmer Fund to provide scholarships for our Friendship Tours, which visit many of the countries where Equal Exchange works.
Through BPFNA Friendship Tours, we are able to connect with Baptists and people of faith worldwide and form lasting relationships with brothers and sisters while learning about the realities of their lives. Throughout the years, the BPFNA has been to locations including Liberia, Chiapas, Tijuana, Burma and Nicaragua.
