Dec. 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada

December 6, 2010 | On Dec. 6, 1989, 14 women were killed in a violent act at Montral\'s lcole Polytechnique. Writing in the Toronto Star, Eileen Morrow says, "Today is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. Lee Ann McKenna to Receive Peace Medallion

November 3, 2010 | Lee Ann McKenna has been named this year\'s winner of the Greater Toronto Area YMCA\'s Peace Medallion. A key focus of the nomination is her work with the Sudanese Organization for Non-Violence and Development (SONAD), a non-profit working with marginalized people in Sudan to reduce poverty, promote human rights and combat HIV/AIDS through training and advocacy.
