BPFNA and Churches Supporting Churches: Working to Restore New Orleans Communities

Print

November 2, 2006 | bpfna

Hurricane Katrina brought New Orleans a degree of almost unprecedented destruction -- the razing of an entire city, the demolition of almost every system of support, the elimination of the very structures that make rebuilding possible. Since then, there has been a revelation of the remaining strength of the triple evils of poverty, racism, and militarism as the already-disempowered have suffered disproportionately and struggle still to have their voices heard.

What can happen in New Orleans now? The creation of beloved community!

Working with the national Churches Supporting Churches organization, BPFNA Partner Congregations are teaming up to help rebuild churches so that they can work to restore community to their congregations and neighborhoods.
