BPFNA at CBF 2008
A Postcard from Memphis, Tennessee
June 19, 2008
Today we welcomed friends new and old to the BPFNA booth at the 18th annual Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) General Assembly. This year's assembly is themed "Embracing the World: Building Bridges" and is being held at the Memphis Cook Convention Center in Tennessee.
As the CBF explores its theme through times of small-group prayer and discernment and in corporate worship, Evelyn Hanneman, Bob Spinks and I have had the opportunity to see several familiar faces to meet some great new people. It has been good to share the work of BPFNA with some who don't know us.
Tomorrow morning we host a Peace Breakfast with guest speaker Rev. Charles Duplessis of Mount Nebo Bible Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Rev. Duplessis will speak on the important work of Churches Supporting Churches that continues in New Orleans. BPFNA board President Steve Jones will also bring a word about the overall work of the Peace Fellowship.
BPFNA has a long-standing tradition of hosting Peace Breakfasts in conjunction with the American Baptist Churches' Biennial Meetings, but this is our first time having one at a CBF assembly. We're excited to be in Memphis representing the BPFNA to those assembled here, and we look forward to another good day with the CBF tomorrow.
