About 230 peacemakers from around the world gathered last week in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, for the BPFNA 2008 Summer Peace Conference. The conference was held July 14-19 at John Abbott College.
The week began with a Monday night keynote address by Jim Loney, who, along with three others, was kidnapped and held hostage in Iraq while serving in the Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) delegation. Lee McKenna preached and coordinated evening worship, which also included a Wednesday night message from Mary Hammonds. Noted author and professor Glen Stassen led a daily Bible study. Conference participants were also inspired and uplifted by musician David White and performance artist Hector Aristizábal. The conference also featured a host of wonderful leaders who are taught and guided conversation in at 23 scheduled workshops offered during the week. Several other workshops were added as interest arose.
Audio recordings of select conference sessions will be made available soon. There will also be an extensive photo album of the week's activities. Details on both there will be on the BPFNA home page as soon as possible.
