(WAYNE, PA, May 30, 2009) - The board of directors of the BPFNA met May 28-30, 2009, at Central Baptist Church, Wayne, PA. Board members are worked through an ambitious agenda, including consideration of the latest draft of the "Pathways II" document. Pathways has guided the work of the Fellowship for the past five years, and the new document will provide a basis for the organization's efforts through 2014.
Program and administrative committees met twice each to prioritize their work in light of Pathways II. The committees will continue to meet by teleconference to discuss their ongoing tasks.
With one member standing aside, the board adopted the statement "US Sponsored Torture: A Call for a Commission of Inquiry", based on a statement by the same name authored by the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (NRCAT). BPFNA is an endorsing sponsor of NRCAT. Click here to read the statement.
Central Baptist Church was a gracious host, providing many meals, snacks and meeting space for the 33 board and staff members. CBC members also coordinated a time of fellowship between their members and BPFNA at a Friday night coffeehouse based on the theme "Playing with the Spirit". The gathering offered an inspiring time of music, poetry and art in an interactive setting.
BPFNA is grateful to the Central Baptist Church family for their accommodation of this meeting and to several members of the congregation who are hosting individual board members in their homes.
