About Us

A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, BPFNA~Bautistas por la Paz is the largest Baptist network of peacemakers in the United States inclusive of other denominational faiths, non-confessional groups and individuals.

We are a progressive, intercultural organization of peacemakers with a variety of personalities, ethnicities, cultures and interests. We are gender-diverse, inclusive, and affirming. We are the first Baptist organization with a formal bilingual commitment.

We serve over 4,000 members in four member nations: Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. We also accompany peacemakers in South America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa.

First used in a 1982 edition of PeaceWork magazine, our logo depicts a dove emerging from flames. It evokes the story of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descends upon the gathered community as they unite their “tongues of fire” to tell of the radical Good News. The BPFNA dove comes to represent both peace and the Holy Spirit. The rainbow design reminds us of the beauty and diversity within creation.

Our Why & How

We are convinced that Jesus came not only for personal salvation and the transformation of individual lives, but also to empower the poor, liberate the oppressed, free the captive, and pronounce a new day of grace for all of creation. We acknowledge this message of liberation and reconciliation by striving to become an antiracist, intercultural, and decentralized organization.

We live into our mission and vision through three areas of activity:

  • Gathering peacemakers who are committed to transform our societies with diversity of initiatives and approaches from churches, nonprofits, groups, and individuals in our network

  • Equipping individuals, groups and congregations with resources, information, and tools for the hands-on work of peace rooted in justice

  • Mobilizing individuals, groups and congregations to respond to pressing concerns.

Witnessing to God’s peace, rooted in justice; working together until it comes.
